Tinker Juarez will headline the new Floyd’s of Leadvill Racing team, a gravel and mountain bike race-focused team started by Floyd Landis and and named after his successful CBD business. The team marks Landis’ return to professional cycling after a two-year hiatus. Juarez is one of the longest-tenured and most decorated racers in XC racing—he’s a two-time Olympian, World Cup winner, three-time Masters XC World Champion and Hall of Famer who spent most of his career with Cannondale, before a surprising split earlier this year. Juarez will be joined by 2021 Unbound XL champion Taylor Lideen, La Flèche Wallonne Féminine winner Geneviève Jeanson, U23 racer Victor Cashes and road racer Anne Donley. Landis, know primarily for his controversial 2006 Tour de France win, will himself will also race a select schedule in 2022, as will fellow former World Tour pro racer David Zabriskie. Paul Thomas will serve as team director and will also race select events.
Speaking on his new racing team, Floyd’s of Leadville CEO, Floyd Landis said: “After taking a couple years away from racing, we felt the timing was right to get back into it. Bicycle racing is where our core customers spend their energy and attention and we felt that being at the races would be an important step to further grow our brand. Our aim with the program is to create a family feeling, and develop a racing culture that emphasizes the experiences and stories we will share together, more than racing results. We are looking forward to connecting with all cyclists out there.”
The team will follow an aggressive schedule of gravel and mountain bike races across North America, with plans to compete at the Belgian Waffle Ride Quadruple Crown events, the Life Time Grand Prix Series, and the Southeast Gravel Series, plus many of the most iconic gravel and mountain bike events such as 24 hours in the Old Pueblo and the Borah Epic MTB and Gravel. FLR will debut at the Gravel and Whine event in Temecula, CA on January 29.
Sponsors for FLR in 2022 are as follows: Floyd’s of Leadville CBD, Squad Bicycles, Elevate Data + Analytics, Hellbender Gear, Kenda Tires, infinit Nutrition, Borah Teamwear, Wren Sports, Presta Cycle, Selle Repente, Boyd Wheels, B&W International GmbH, Kask helmets, Koo Eyewear, Wahoo Fitness, and the Afgravelstan 1.0 Gravel and Music Festival.
