Meet Dave, Cannondale’s New Dirt Jumper – Video

Dave's down for anything

Cannondale has a rich history in the 26-inch dirt-jump scene. Our sport would not be where it is today without the requisite Aaron Chase sections in the New World Disorder videos of the mid-oughties. And now, with Cannondale bringing on a new generation of shredders, including Max Nerurkar, Sam Cofano and, of course, Josh Bryceland. And then there’s Dave. Sam Hockenhull has earned an odd nickname, but it’s oddly fitting for a bike that, in the right hands, is familiar. Casual. No big deal. That’s Hockenhull’s style, though beneath the surface, there’s a high level of technicality.

Which brings us to the bike. At $1,150, the Dave’s build is more than enough to get you out there while staying well below what it would cost to make a dirt jumper from scratch. The Manitou Circus Expert isn’t the most sophisticated jumping fork out there, but it’s plenty durable and plenty adjustable. Tubular chromoly cranks and cable-actuated Tektro brakes keep it simple, and the aluminum frame keeps it Cannondale, though unfortunately, they’re only making it in one frame size.
