Matt Hunter holds a special place in the history of what, I guess, we still call “freeride.” He bridges the mid school with the new school. Among his peers are both legends and groms, but there’s no arguing that he has become a legend himself. Hunter grew up in Kamloops, BC, whose unique topography and terra firma gave rise to the style of riding—and traibuilding—that he has defined for a generation.
