Matt Hunter holds a special place in the history of what, I guess, we still call “freeride.” He bridges the mid school with the new school. Among his peers are both legends and groms, but there’s no arguing that he has become a legend himself. Hunter grew up in Kamloops, BC, whose unique topography and terra firma gave rise to the style of riding—and traibuilding—that he has defined for a generation. Now, there’s a new generation following him, both in his family and in the community that he has inspired to take root and grow in Kamloops. Shimano’s heartfelt video series stops in with Hunter for a very special edition of This Is Home.
