Realm is the product of two creative minds, Brandon Semenuk and Justin Wyper, and their shared interest in thinking outside the box by pushing the limits and creativity of Slopestyle riding and filmmaking. After a number of locations fell through, they received the go ahead to start building at an undisclosed location on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia.
Features that began as CAD drawings began to take shape, but as with anything that pushes the envelope it wasn’t without its share of challenges. Heavy rain and tricky dirt slowed progress and dragged the build out for diggers, Justin Wyper, Evan ‘Intern’ Young and Dawson Amann.
One of the features, dubbed ‘The Sphere’ had to be primarily built offsite by local welder and fabricator, Karson Hudder, who found a way to bend aluminum for the bowl and created the stand for the sphere to mount on. This was one of several unique features that was built as the basis of this project, with one to be incorporated into next years Red Bull Joyride course after being voted on by the public.
