Front-flip variations and BMX style win the day at the quarry

Australia’s Caroline Buchanan became the first female to land a frontflip on a mountain bike in competition to win the women’s best trick. Austria’s Elias Ruso took home best trick for the men with a frontflip heel-clicker, though there is evidence his heels, in fact, may not have clicked.

If those highlights were a little short for you, the slopestyle course packed a lot of features into not a lot of elevation.  Sweden’s Emil Johansson took the win with some heavily BMX-inspired highlights like a 450 x-up to untable on the 90-degree hip and a decade over the drop into the final lip.

This year’s slope course lacked the crowd-pleasing two-sided hip, but made for some banger finishes, including the front-flip no-foot can (or maybe front-flip Indian Air?) from winner Bienvenido Aguado Alba of Spain.
