Take a look at the art of MTB photography, in this behind-the-scenes look at the creative process with Thomas Genon and photographer JB Liautard.
From Shimano: There are levels of riding, just as there are layers of a painting. Each stratum forms the basis for the next step; it is important in and of itself but also in the bigger picture. No big jump is gapped from zero, no great photograph is snapped from nothing. It’s progress, a process. Each layer levels up until you land a masterpiece.
The end product is a thing of beauty, no doubt. But peel back those layers and you also reveal a captivating story. Trial and error, mistakes and triumphs, near-hits and near-misses which add depth and richness to a snapshot in time. The style and artistry of Thomas and JB has created sublime images which celebrate the beauty and badass-ery of bikes in a unique and mesmerizing way. They make us question the how and why, and pull us into their story.
They are truly works of art.
