The gratuitous Huck To Flat signifies the end of yet another Field Test. We’re literally burned out after too much time in the sun and fed up with pulling cactus out of our limbs. This time, we’ve put 10 value bikes on the chopping block, five of those lacking any rear suspension whatsoever. 27.5 or 29″ rims, regular or plus tires, it doesn’t matter—this is the Huck To Flat. Everything gets sent to full bottom out.
We found an old dusty road, set up a plastic department store kicker, and brought out the Phantom camera to capture the beauty of the violent impacts at 1,000 frames-per-second. You might think that the hardtails wouldn’t be impressive, but check out some of the chains and derailleurs getting whipped into the pavement and the frame flex. I feel bad, but then again, it’s my ankles and wrists that are getting put through the wringer too.
